J. Co Donuts’ great gangster

After dinner at Yabu last weekend, we went to J.Co Donuts & Coffee. I was still full from dinner so I hadn’t really planned on having a donut. Also, donuts aren’t something I crave at all. I will eat one if it’s there, but I won’t go out of my way to buy it.

Since Pammy had been there before, I let her recommend which flavor to get, especially since everything she recommends I end up loving (she has great taste in food!).

She bypassed the other flavors save for one: Alcapone. When we were queueing up, I knew it must be good because the bastards ladies ahead of us swiped the last four Alcapones. Alcapone is a white chocolate frosted donut peppered with thinly sliced almonds. If you think it sounds good, you’re right. It is the best. The absolute freaking best.

It tastes like Alpine White, (please bring back Alpine White, Nestle!) but a donut. It was so good that we had to wait for a new batch to be made, and Pammy ordered us a half-dozen box each, promising to us that half-dozen wasn’t a lot—once we tasted it, we’d get hooked.

And hooked I was. The Alcapone was sweet but not throat-clogging sweet, milky and the almond crunch on top is just purrrrrrfect.

In case you get there without Alcapone readily available, get that chocolate thing with cocoa puffs on top. It is also good, but not as good as Alcapone.

Giff guarding our boxes. Yes, this time we were the bastards that wiped out the first batch. Each donut is kinda pricey at P40something each, but hey, almonds ain’t cheap.

Giff thinking of Olympians.

As usual, Pammy was right. The box of six didn’t even make it past eleven AM at home. My brothers and I made short work of the half dozen. I hope they open in Makati soon so I don’t have to trek all the way to Megamall!
