Mail Call!
Another box arrived for me today.
Oddly enough, it’s not stuffed with impulse purchases for myself. I have actually started Christmas shopping. I’ve knocked off twelve people from my list already, a trend I hope to continue ‘til November.
That doesn’t mean the box didn’t contain goodies for moi.
Like this too cute pouch:
And this teeny tiny bottle of...

A Case for the Digital Harinezumi
I saw this case in one of the many many sites I go to when the shopping bug bites (when doesn’t it?).
It was so adorable! I just knew that if my Digital Harinezumi were in a leather case, my photos would come out so much better, or better yet, I’d have photos taken with the camera at all since it was previously gathering dust here at home.
My neglected Digital Harinezumi.

Review: Celebrity Nails Makati
I was in desperate need of a pedicure but didn’t feel like throwing on any decent clothes and making the short drive to Nail Spa, my usual nail place.
A quick Google search of home service nail salons led me to Celebrity Nails Makati, and though I’m very resistant to change when it comes to people who do my hair, nails and face, laziness won over and I decided to give the place a...

The Granny Inside
I don’t know what it is, but I have an aversion to underwear (underwear is just packaging meant to be unwrapped) during regular weekdays and an aversion to clothing during the weekend. In fact, the first thing I will do when I get a place of my own is to spend a full twenty-four hours walking around the house without a stitch on.
After my shower today, as I was rummaging around my home...

Cameron Diaz & Korres on Knight & Day
If you’re planning to watch Knight & Day this weekend (entertaining enough) and wondering what lip product June Havens (Cameron Diaz) was dipping her finger into during the airplane lavatory scene, I’m 99.99 % sure (since no one official from the movie verified it) that it’s Korres Lip Butter. Quince, if you want specifics. Am torn between Pomegranate and Quince but the...

More Stickers!
I was at Hobbes and Landes the other day buying myself a Toy Story space alien Lego keychain when I saw these cute stickers (what else is new?) by the cashier.
I was just going to buy one, but they were 50% off, still a bit pricey at the discounted price, but too adorable to resist:
I like the pencil-drawn effect.
True enough, it does look cute when placed on surfaces. I normally...

A Cute Solution
Due to my manic stationery shopping, my custom Moleskine notebook case has taken the brunt of my stationery excesses.
It’s become terribly thick, and almost bursting.
I was worried that the elastic strap might snap from the strain or get dislodged from the leather. While I’m sure that AB Sutton, the company who made my notebook, would gladly repair it should that happen, I...

Sexiest Man Today
How sexier can he get? Engadget’s Joshua Topolsky recording an iPhone 4 Face Time session WITH a Panasonic Lumix GF-1 while his dog is in the other room.
Sigh.
iPhone 4’s mouth-watering review by Engadget here.
July 2 can’t come soon enough (I missed the June 24 boat by a day!!).

Capsule Toy Mania
During Pam & Jill’s trip to Singapore, they brought me home the most adorable capsule toy find:
They were aiming for the Hello Kitty one but figured this was good enough since it was pink.
I didn’t care, I loved it. More than Hello Kitty, even. Our only regret was that they didn’t get more since the charms were not only adorable, they were of good quality. They were...

Mighty Wallets Are Dynomite!
This little straggler from my last online shopping fugue arrived yesterday.
I first saw Dynomighty’s Mighty Wallet on one of my favorite online shopping haunts, Perpetual Kid. Since I was ordering from Amazon, I was glad to find a reseller of Mighty Wallets there as well to consolidate shipping.
I chose the airmail and stamp design. Apart from the airmail print being one of...

The Best Things In Life Are Twenty Pesos
We were at Landmark looking for a top for Jill and an outfit for Giff.
On the way back to Greenbelt, Pammy picked up a cute pair of phone straps. They were actual plastic zippers fashioned into a long necklace for your phone, ID or pen. I wasn’t going to buy it until I saw a pink and yellow pair.
The best part? They were only P19.75. For two!!
It was an incredible bargain,...

The Stationery Saga Continues
After a meeting at Greenbelt, I remembered that I needed colored mechanical pencil refills for my new Zebra Sharbo from Jet Pens.
National Bookstore at Greenbelt was in the process of being renovated, but they finished a big, beautiful center display for Moleskine.
It was so gorgeous that I was instantly drawn to it like a shopaholic moth to the flame, even though I had several Moleskine...

Shopping in the Dark
Went shopping with the Beckies yesterday, and on our way to Glorietta to meet Jill and Pam, we arrived to an almost pitch dark mall.
There was an unknown power interruption, according to the lady guard, and on the way to Park Square, I spied (despite the dark), a super-cute sticker label sheet hanging on the glass display of The Gift Factory.
I entered to browse quickly through the other...

Sugar Lips, Tart Fingers
When it comes to anything nail-related, Pammy is the number-one authority. When she said that the best cuticle moisturizer was Lush’s Lemony Flutter, I was ready to buy a tub.
It must not have been a well-kept secret (only to me), because searching for it here was akin to the search for the Holy Grail. All Lush stores did not have it in stock and they didn’t know when they’d...

The Perfect Weekend
Most long weekends are spent by myself in a state of catatonia, with lots of backlogged TV show episodes to keep me company.
While this weekend has not allowed me (yet) to get into my TV marathon groove, I’m actually enjoying one of the perfect weekends despite the lack of TV time.
Spent Friday night singing off-key at the top of my lungs at Center Stage and left with an awesome goodie...

Pen is Love
I discovered my future favorite pen on my first trip to Singapore. It was a Pilot Hi-Tec C Coleto, a multi-pen version of my favorite Hi-Tec C pen in high school. The pen’s tip had a very, very fine tip, almost needle-like in its thinness.
The Coleto version was sold as an empty chamber that could house 3-4 different cartridges (depending on which one you chose). The refill cartridges had...

Brother - 1, Roaming scam - 0
I don’t know if you’ve ever gotten one of these text messages, but I’ve been on the receiving end of several. Some jejemon texts you informing you he/she is texting from a new roaming number and that you should take care. The text is sent in a familiar tone, which may fool you into thinking it’s someone you know.
It’s a scam, of course. Everyone knows that....

Bye-Bye Beagle
I barely remember her as a puppy. When our family got Camille, my concept of dog-rearing was different.
We weren’t allowed to have dogs inside the house, and Camille the beagle stayed outside the garage.
I didn’t interact with her much. I was in college then, too busy and too absorbed in the mini-dramas of my life.
The only things I remember when she was younger was that...

Proof that Steve Jobs thinks of me.
Usually, Apple leaves the accessorizing to third-party suppliers, but since the iPad launch where they also offered an Apple iPad case, they seem to have joined the accessories bandwagon as well.
Apple will also have their own iPhone 4 cases called Bumpers, a rubbery bezel surrounding the device to protect its perimeter (they’re pretty confident that the front & back glass casing are...

iPhone 4 = iPon time for me (part deux of 2010)
Barely a couple of months after rocking my world (and wallet) with the iPad, Steve just did it again. Yep, the controversial iPhone 4 was finally officially announced today. There’s no doubt on my getting it, it’s only a matter of when and how. It’s the most gorgeous thing I’ve ever seen, since, well, since the last Apple device launched, whichever that was (iPad). ...

Unsubs everywhere
My mom had a fondness for police procedural movies & TV shows, and I remember growing up watching along with her shows like LA Law, Law & Order, and movies like Silence of the Lambs, Copycat and the like.
I’ve always wanted to start watching Criminal Minds (a crime show focusing on a criminal’s psychological profile versus the forensics of crime in CSI) but never had the...
